Distance Learning CE Course Offerings
These courses are approved for Continuing Education (CE) credits that can be used for recertification by both the National Environmental Health Association National Proficiency Program (NEHA-NRPP) and the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB). The number of CE credits with guaranteed financing, and the costs, are listed along with the important details of each course.
You can order any of these courses as a hard copy (a book with a paper-based exam) or as a CD. The advantage of purchasing the CD form of a course is that it is cheaper and you can see the animation that is built into some of the slides.
Radon Measurement Refresher Course: This is a 16 hour CE course which covers the entire spectrum of radon measurements, from radon physics to radon in water. It is a great refresher for people who need the entire 16 hours of CE for recertification. Do you remember your QA/QC requirements? Do you remember all the fine points of device placement? Those, and other things you learned in your initial measurement training are all in here. Course includes a manual (paper or CD) and tests that you return to us for grading. Cost is $295 complete, for the paper version. $275 for CD version.
Radon Basics for Home Inspectors: This is an excellent 8 hour CE course for home inspectors for their 8 hours of Category 1 CE. It features those portions of the initial radon measurement training course which are most appropriate for home inspectors, focusing on the practical side of radon testing. It includes a nice section on how to inspect an existing radon mitigation system so that you can assure your client that the mitigation system meets the ANSI 2121 requirements. Cost is $150 complete, for the paper version. $140 for the CD version.
Radon Measurement Device Refresher Course: This 8 hour course focuses on the radon devices and brings back to your attention all the idiosyncrasies of each device; optimal deployment period, minimum detectable levels, precision, accuracy, bias and the technology of how the radiation is measured. Cost is $150 complete, for the paper version. $140 for the CD version.
Radon in Water Refresher Course: Here is the most complete 4 hour CE course for the measurement and mitigation of radon in water that I know of. Of course. the sampling methodology is discussed in detail. However, all of the various types of mitigation systems, along with their annual operating costs and radon collection efficiency are discussed. Cost is $75.00 complete, for the paper version. $70 for the CD version.
Radon Physics Refresher Course: For you science-types out there, Dr. Burkhart reviews the radiation physics that you learned to love when you took your first measurement course. Also included are sections on the health effects of radon, including some of the more recent case-control study results and the cancer predictions from the European and the North American combined metastudies. 4 hours of CE. $75 for the complete paper version. $70 on CD.
(RRNC) Radon Resistant New Construction Course: is critical with the new green homes of today’s builders. With this 4 hour class you will learn the basic of radon, radon decay and why it is a problem in all homes. We will cover health risks for radon and most importantly the approved techniques for radon resistant new construction, which include both passive and active systems.
